Visiting Jeddah...

After your week stay on board you will have the opportunity to visit Jeddah, depending on your return flight.

Jeddah is a modern city with some 6 million inhabitants, including about 2 million expats. It is the second biggest city in the country and has the biggest port in the Red Sea. Jeddah is is very wealthy city with many large shopping malls, big buildings, palaces, villa compounds and expensive cars in the bustling streets. You find many western influences, like Starbucks, MAc Donalds, Pizza hut, European cars, etc.. The old city has survived urban development and the old soukh is a very nice place to visit.

People are very friendly, they will talk to you, ask where you're from or they will just pass you in the street and say hello, welcome!
Five times per day shops close for about 15 minutes prayer time and re-open after prayer. There are many fancy restaurants serving international cuisine, there are sushi bars, french and thai restaurants as well as small local cheaper restaurants serving local food.
